As a 30 year old single woman, an inevitable question at any dinner party is, "Are you seeing anyone?" I recently shared a dinner with my good friends Cait and John and their daughter Libby where I entertained them with stories from my recent (mostly bad) dates. At this dinner, John commented that I could probably slap all my stories together in a book, add some pithy hallmark-card wisdom, and make a small fortune in the self-help-meets-romance-novel genre. While I have no such ambition, I have enjoyed sharing the details after a date with my friends - whether sad, sweet, humiliating, or comic - so this got my wheels turning.
So here is what I'm proposing:
I will go on 52 Dates, one date per week for the next year. I write about the details of those dates here. They don't all have to be different men, if someone makes it to the second or third date, then a subsequent date would count. I will, of course, use pseudonyms. And finally, this is called "52 Dates, or as many as it takes" - the true goal is to find that guy who can put up with me, challenge me, make me laugh until I cry, and who thinks my afro in the morning is cute.
Wish me luck!
luck! and much hilarity
